Fire-Dex has introduced the TerraCross Multifunctional Boot, designed to provide firefighters with footwear suitable for technical rescue, emergency medical services and wildland operations.
The boot is certified to NFPA 1950 and has been developed to combine protection, comfort and durability across different emergency response environments.
Supporting multiple fire service roles
Todd Herring, Vice President of Product Innovation and Strategy at Fire-Dex, said: “From vehicle extrications and technical rescues to EMS calls and wildland incidents, today’s departments need gear that can perform across varied terrain and long, unpredictable shifts.
“TerraCross was built to give departments a high-performance boot that supports multiple missions without sacrificing comfort, fit, or mobility.”
TerraCross is designed to complement structural firefighting boots while reducing the requirement for multiple specialist footwear options.
The boot meets NFPA 1950 requirements, the consolidated standard replacing NFPA 1951, NFPA 1999 and NFPA 1977.
Firefighter protection and comfort
TerraCross incorporates waterproof and breathable GORE TEX CROSSTECH footwear fabric to support extended periods of use.
A Vibram FIRE & ICE outsole provides traction across different terrain while maintaining flame resistance and performance across a range of temperatures.
Protection is provided through an L Protection WB Flex puncture barrier, composite toe and reinforcement in areas subject to increased wear.
Fire-Dex said these features are intended to provide protection without adding unnecessary weight or restricting flexibility.
NFPA 1950 certified footwear
The TerraCross boot is manufactured in the United States using globally sourced components and is produced without intentionally added PFAS.
Fire Dex said the introduction expands its range of personal protective equipment for first responders, providing a footwear option designed to meet the changing operational requirements of fire departments.
The TerraCross Multifunctional Boot is now available through Fire Dex distributors and online.
