The Building Safety Regulator (BSR) has launched a free digital toolkit to help principal accountable persons (PAPs) manage fire and structural safety responsibilities across more than 13,000 residential buildings in England.
The centralised resource is designed to support over 4,000 PAPs in meeting their statutory obligations under the Building Safety Act, helping protect hundreds of thousands of residents.
Supporting compliance with building safety legislation
The Managing Building Safety Toolkit provides guidance, training and practical resources to help duty holders understand their responsibilities.
Materials include webinars, questions and answers, guidance documents, safety alerts and information about preparing Safety Case Reports.
These reports demonstrate how building safety risks are being managed and support regulatory assessments.
The toolkit also provides information on remediation requirements and official guidance for occupied residential buildings.
Dedicated resources for resident managed buildings
BSR has included additional support for resident managed buildings, recognising the responsibilities undertaken by residents involved in building management.
Free training is available for more than 2,000 resident directors working within Resident Management Companies, Right to Manage schemes and commonhold associations.
The resources aim to help those responsible navigate building safety requirements and understand their legal obligations.
Improving engagement with residents
The toolkit includes guidance on engaging residents in decisions affecting building safety.
It also provides materials supporting BSR’s Your Home, Your Safety campaign and advice for residents considering improvements to their properties.
Further updates planned
Charlie Pugsley, Acting Chief Executive Officer of BSR, said: “This managing building safety toolkit represents a significant step forward in our efforts to support principal accountable persons, especially those in thousands of resident managed buildings across England.”
The regulator plans to expand the resource with further guidance and training materials over the coming months.
The launch follows BSR’s announcement of a more proportionate approach to future building assessments.
