Security integrator Everon has announced a strategic collaboration with Teledyne FLIR to introduce a thermal imaging fire detection and monitoring service for commercial facilities.
The partnership will combine Everon’s security and fire safety integration capabilities with FLIR’s thermal imaging cameras, providing early warning detection of abnormal heat conditions.
The announcement follows UL certification of FLIR’s A Series thermal imaging cameras.
UL certified thermal fire detection
The solution uses thermal imaging technology to identify developing heat signatures before conventional fire detection thresholds may be reached.
According to the companies, the cameras meet UL 2684 requirements and support compliance with relevant NFPA 72 provisions covering initiating devices, inspection, testing and maintenance.
The integrated system can generate early warning notifications and initiate fire alarm events directly through a connected fire alarm control panel.
Configurable temperature monitoring
The thermal cameras provide configurable alarm settings to address different operational risks.
These include fixed temperature thresholds, rate of temperature rise alarms and notifications based on percentage changes in temperature.
Individual cameras can also monitor multiple zones or areas of interest simultaneously.
This approach enables wider coverage of monitored spaces and may reduce the number of separate detection devices required for certain applications.
Fire protection for high risk facilities
The technology is intended for environments where developing heat conditions present significant operational and safety concerns.
Potential applications include battery energy storage systems, utilities, data centres, warehouses, distribution centres and manufacturing facilities.
Other applications include rooftop solar installations, food and beverage production, recycling operations and waste management facilities.
The companies say the collaboration will help commercial operators identify abnormal thermal conditions earlier, supporting emergency response and the protection of critical infrastructure.
The offering combines thermal monitoring with fire alarm integration to provide an additional approach to detecting developing fire risks across commercial and industrial environments.
Ryan Sandler, Vice President, Fire & Life Safety for Everon, said: “Working with FLIR on this solution represents a major advancement in how early fire detection and life safety systems can be designed and deployed.
“By combining Everon’s deep expertise in code compliant fire and life safety integration with FLIR’ s proven thermal imaging technology, we’re helping customers detect thermal events earlier, respond faster, and reduce risk – particularly in complex, high hazard environments.”
Kyle McKinney, Vice President, America Sales for FLIR Advanced & Integrated Systems, said: “When it comes to fire detection, the value comes down to one thing: time. By enabling earlier detection of developing thermal events, FLIR’s UL-Listed thermal imaging solution gives organisations more time to respond before a fire impacts people, assets, and operations.
“We are excited to bring this capability to Everon’s customer base and help them reduce risk across their most critical environments.”
