Gear Wash has acquired Detroit-based TurnoutManagement and TurnoutRental, expanding its national network to 16 locations and strengthening its presence across the Midwest.
The acquisition increases Gear Wash’s footprint to 15 service facilities and one mobile unit, reinforcing its position as one of the fire service industry’s fastest-growing fully verified Independent Service Providers (ISPs) of personal protective equipment (PPE) care and maintenance.
Expanded support for fire departments
According to Gear Wash, the acquisition will improve access to NFPA 1850-compliant PPE cleaning, inspection, repair and maintenance services for fire departments throughout Michigan and the surrounding Midwest.
The Detroit facility will also operate as a regional rental hub, supplying temporary PPE for firefighter training, academies, new recruits and departments whose equipment is undergoing servicing or awaiting delivery of new gear.
Focus on reducing downtime
Taylor Burke Gilman, President of Gear Wash, saidL “Each addition to our network is guided by the same goal: helping fire departments get the PPE care they need with less downtime and greater confidence.
“Extending our presence into Detroit gives more departments access to NFPA 1850-compliant care and the full support of the industry’s largest Independent Service Provider.”
Supporting future growth
Joel Weiner, owner of TurnoutManagement and TurnoutRental, said: “This is an exciting step for our business and, most importantly, for the fire departments and fire academies we serve.
“Our priority has always been our customers and our employees, and joining Gear Wash strengthens our ability to support them for years to come.”
