The US Fire Apparatus Industrial Pumper FT 1183 is designed for firefighting operations at refineries, petrochemical facilities, terminals, tank farms and other high hazard industrial sites.
Developed around high volume water and foam delivery, the apparatus combines pumping capacity, onboard foam storage and remotely controlled firefighting equipment within a heavy duty vehicle platform.
4,000 GPM pump supports high volume water delivery
At the centre of the FT 1183 is a Waterous CRU2 pump capable of delivering 4,000 GPM. This provides the water flow required for large scale industrial firefighting operations where significant volumes may need to be applied.
The apparatus also carries a 2,000 gallon polypropylene foam tank and incorporates a Waterous Aquis UltraFlow 300 GPM foam system. Together, these systems provide foam storage and application capabilities for incidents involving flammable liquids and other industrial hazards.
TFT wireless remote control deck guns allow firefighters to control high flow streams remotely, providing an alternative operating position during industrial fireground operations.
Kenworth T880 chassis provides heavy duty platform
The FT 1183 is built on a Kenworth T880 commercial chassis. Power is provided by a Cummins X15 engine producing 605 HP, paired with an Allison 4000EVS automatic transmission.
A 75 gallon aluminium fuel tank supports the vehicle during operations.
Aluminium body designed for industrial environments
US Fire Apparatus constructs the FT 1183 with a 3 over 16 inch heavy duty extruded aluminium body. The construction is intended to provide a durable platform for service in demanding industrial environments.
By combining high volume pumping with onboard foam storage, foam proportioning and remotely controlled monitors, the FT 1183 brings several firefighting functions onto a single industrial apparatus.
Its configuration is intended for industrial fire brigades responding to incidents where the scale of the hazard requires substantial water and foam delivery capabilities.
