OroraTech USA has announced its sponsorship and participation in the Red Sky Summit, taking place on 4 November in San Francisco, where it will showcase developments in satellite based wildfire detection and monitoring.
The company will present its thermal intelligence technology under the theme Thermal First. Always First, highlighting the potential for satellite observations to identify wildfire activity at an early stage.
Thermal satellites support early wildfire detection
OroraTech uses thermal sensing technology deployed in orbit to identify hotspots and detect developing wildfire activity.
According to the company, its technology can identify fire activity before visible smoke appears, potentially providing emergency responders with information before the first emergency call is received.
The approach is designed to support earlier identification of emerging threats and improve access to information during wildfire incidents.
Expansion of satellite monitoring capabilities
OroraTech recently announced plans to deploy up to 96 additional wildfire sensors aboard Eutelsat satellites.
The planned expansion is intended to increase the availability and coverage of thermal wildfire intelligence for emergency response organisations worldwide.
By expanding its satellite sensing capabilities, OroraTech aims to support faster detection, ongoing wildfire monitoring and more informed operational decisions.
Live demonstration at FireTech Showcase
Visitors to the Red Sky Summit will be able to meet OroraTech representatives at the event’s FireTech Showcase.
The company plans to demonstrate a live stream of thermal hotspot data collected from space, illustrating how satellite observations can provide information about potential wildfire activity.
Industry engagement at Red Sky Summit
The company will use the summit to discuss developments in satellite based wildfire intelligence and the potential applications of thermal monitoring for emergency responders.
The event provides an opportunity for attendees to examine how expanding satellite capabilities could support wildfire detection and management.
Dr. Ignacio Zuleta, Chief Technology and Product Officer at OroraTech, said: “Earth observation is entering a defining moment. Building on an eight-year foundation in thermal intelligence, OroraTech delivers persistent, purpose-built insights into how conditions on the ground change.
“Thermal imaging reveals heat signatures from space, helping identify emerging threats and monitor fire activity. We turn these observations into actionable intelligence, so fire managers can make smarter decisions to protect lives, infrastructure, and the environment.”
Thomas Grübler, co-founder and CEO of OroraTech USA, said: “Building a global satellite network takes long-term commitment, and we’re committed to putting more thermal sensors into orbit.
“Our agreement with Eutelsat is an important step toward making satellite wildfire detection more accessible and dependable for fire agencies around the world.”
