The International Water Mist Association (IWMA) has confirmed changes to its Board of Directors following its annual members meeting, with Kristian Hox retaining his position and Paolo Bigatti joining the board.
Bigatti, of Jensen Hughes, succeeds longstanding board member Luciano Nigro, who has stepped down as he approaches retirement.
Luciano Nigro concludes board tenure
Nigro joined the IWMA Board of Directors in 2011 and has contributed to the development and wider acceptance of water mist fire suppression technology.
Throughout his tenure, he has represented the perspective of fire engineers responsible for designing and specifying water mist systems.
His work has focused on making water mist technology more accessible and practical for engineers considering different fire suppression solutions.
Supporting water mist adoption
Reflecting on his contribution, Nigro emphasised the importance of ensuring water mist systems remain viable for fire protection professionals.
“I think I have given a positive contribution to the development of water mist technology as one of the most innovative and promising firefighting technologies ever proposed to the market.
“During these years, I brought to the board the voice and perspective of fire engineers designing water mist systems, who are among the most important actors in determining the diffusion and adoption of the technology.
“My position has always been that we need to make water mist technology easy and viable for fire engineers. Otherwise, they will opt for simpler or better-known solutions.
“I hope to be able to continue contributing to the association in some capacity because of my lifelong passion for water mist technology.”
IWMA welcomes Paolo Bigatti
Paolo Bigatti will take over the vacant board position, maintaining representation from Jensen Hughes within the association’s leadership.
Meanwhile, Kristian Hox has been confirmed in his existing position as an IWMA Director.
The association thanked Nigro for his contribution to the development and promotion of water mist technology and welcomed Bigatti to the Board of Directors.
The appointments follow the association’s annual members meeting which was held ahead of the 25th International Water Mist Conference in Prague, Czech Republic, on October 7 and 8.
Next year’s event is due to take place in Paris on 6 and 7 October.
