Hochiki Europe has expanded its Hochiki Training Academy with the launch of a new free online course covering the company’s FIREbeam beam smoke detection range.

Designed for installers, specifiers and distributors, the course introduces the fundamentals of beam smoke detection while providing detailed training on the FIREbeam product range and its applications.

Supporting large open-space fire detection

The new course covers both products within the FIREbeam range: FIREbeam Xtra, Hochiki’s addressable beam smoke detector, and FIREbeam Conex, its conventional equivalent, together with the accessories available across the range.

Beam smoke detectors are designed for use in buildings with large, open interiors where traditional point detection is impractical, including warehouses, shopping centres, sports halls, museums, hotel atriums and transport terminals.

By completing the course, installers and specifiers can build confidence in specifying and installing the products before working on live projects.

The course is available free of charge to anyone who registers with the Hochiki Training Academy.

Flexible online learning

The Hochiki Training Academy is a free online learning platform developed for professionals working with Hochiki products, including installers, distributors, specifiers and facilities management teams.

All courses are delivered online, allowing learners to complete training at their own pace and fit learning around their work schedules from anywhere in the world. Each course concludes with an assessment, with successful participants receiving certification.

Growing international training resource

Since its launch, the Hochiki Training Academy has grown to more than 2,000 registered users and has become an established training resource for businesses across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and other international markets.

The Academy has also received industry recognition, being shortlisted for Training Provider of the Year at the FSM Awards and the Manufacturer/Distributor Training Award at the PSI Premier Awards.

Martin Green, Commercial Training and Support Manager at Hochiki Europe, said: “The FIREbeam course is another building block in the Academy library.

“Whether someone is new to our products or has worked with Hochiki for years, the Academy is there to support learning throughout their career, not just at the point of installation or specification.

“Because it is entirely self-paced and accessible from anywhere, our customers can build their knowledge in a way that fits around their own working day, no matter where they are based.

“If you have a project coming up with a large open space, whether that is a warehouse, an atrium or a sports hall, this course gives you a solid grounding in the FIREbeam range before you get started.”
