Hochiki Europe has expanded its FIREscape Nepto emergency lighting range with the launch of the new Black Edition, developed specifically for theatres, cinemas, nightclubs and other entertainment venues where aesthetics are as important as safety compliance.
The new version features a discreet black finish that blends into darkened interiors, reducing the visual impact of traditional white emergency lighting while maintaining the full performance of the standard FIREscape Nepto range.
Designed for discreet installation
The FIREscape Nepto Black Edition has been created to integrate into contemporary entertainment venues, helping preserve the atmosphere of performance spaces without compromising emergency lighting requirements.
The system is built around an addressable control panel connected to self-contained LED luminaires and exit signs via screened extra-low voltage cabling.
Each device incorporates its own intelligent back-up battery capable of providing the mandatory three-hour emergency duration in the event of a power failure.
Simplified installation and maintenance
Hochiki says the system’s low-voltage design, together with its continuous self-testing and self-monitoring capabilities, makes installation and maintenance quicker, easier and more cost-effective than traditional central battery or mains-powered emergency lighting systems.
The luminaire batteries have an expected lifespan of 10 years, helping to reduce replacement costs and ongoing maintenance throughout the life of the installation.
All luminaires are certified to BS EN 60598-2-22 and BS EN 62034 Type PERC, while exit signs comply with BS EN ISO 7010. The complete system meets the requirements of BS 5266.
Scalable emergency lighting
FIREscape Nepto is fully scalable, with each control panel supporting up to two lighting lines and up to 127 devices per line.
Up to 12 panels can be networked together and managed from a single keypad, making the system suitable for both individual venues and multi-site estates.
The system also offers adjustable lighting levels, day and night operating modes, and the flexibility to configure luminaires as either maintained or non-maintained, allowing users to tailor operation outside emergency situations.
Applications beyond entertainment
While developed for theatres, cinemas and other entertainment venues, Hochiki says the FIREscape Nepto Black Edition is equally suited to high-end retail environments, gyms and modern office spaces where interior design is a priority without compromising emergency lighting performance.
