Oshkosh Airport Products, a division of Pierce Manufacturing Inc. and an Oshkosh Corporation business, has delivered eight new Striker® 6×6 Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) vehicles to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), supporting the agency’s ongoing airport fire service modernisation programme.

The addition of the latest eight vehicles brings the total number of Oshkosh units in service to 49.

Supporting Airport Fire Safety

Oshkosh Airport Products has worked closely with CAAP for more than a decade, supporting both fleet modernisation and lifecycle service requirements across multiple airports throughout the Philippines.

The continued partnership reflects CAAP’s confidence in the performance, durability and operational reliability of the Oshkosh platform.

The new Striker 6×6 ARFF vehicles are designed to meet the demands of the Philippines’ unique operating environment, including its archipelagic geography, coastal conditions and network of more than 90 airports.

Key Vehicle Features

Each vehicle is equipped with several operational features designed to enhance emergency response capability, including:

• TAK-4® Independent Suspension for improved stability and control during high-speed response.

• Pump-and-roll capability, allowing firefighting operations while the vehicle is moving.

• Structural panel construction for enhanced corrosion resistance in tropical environments.

• High manoeuvrability for operation across varied terrain and inclines.

• A purpose-built Striker ARFF chassis engineered to meet the acceleration, stability and payload requirements of airport firefighting missions.

Enhancing ICAO Compliance

Configured to support CAAP’s operational and regulatory requirements for high-capacity aerodromes, the vehicles are expected to improve ICAO compliance, enhance redundancy at key airports and promote greater standardisation across maintenance and training programmes.

Local Distribution Partnership

The project was delivered in collaboration with Asian Aerospace Corporation, Oshkosh Airport Products’ authorised distributor and service provider in the Philippines.

The company supported the programme through specification development, production coordination and deployment.

By expanding its Oshkosh fleet across the country’s challenging island geography, CAAP continues to strengthen its emergency response infrastructure as regional air traffic and operational demands continue to grow.

Oshkosh Sales Director, John Leong, said: “This delivery represents the next phase of a long-term fleet modernisation strategy which began in 2013, when CAAP first standardised its ARFF fleet acquisitions on Oshkosh Airport Products platforms following a stringent evaluation process.”

Chris Jones Reyes, Fire Chief of CAAP, Kalibo Airport, said: “Oshkosh Airport Products has consistently delivered reliable, high-performance vehicles which meet the demanding operational requirements of our nationwide airport network.

“These new Striker 6×6 ARFFs will further strengthen our emergency response capabilities and ensure we are fully prepared to support safe and efficient airport operations.”
