Huge fire in Edinburgh, Scotland forces residents to be evacuated

Scottish Fire Engine close up

Over 30 firefighters were called to take on a blaze that spreads to three houses on Seaview Terrace, a street in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Residents were evacuated as quickly as possible after the fire broke out on the 14th December, with the blaze taking place just before midnight.
The three buildings in question were currently under construction, and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service claimed there were no casualties as a result of it. While the blaze was being fought, Police Scotland closed down the road at Rockville Hotel.
Speaking about the incident, a spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was on hand to state that the fire took hold of the three buildings under construction, that no-one was harmed, and the fire crews left knowing that the area was safe.
“More than 30 firefighters have worked to extinguish a large fire which had taken hold within three buildings which were under construction,” the spokesman said. “Operations Control mobilised a total of seven appliances and a height appliance to the scene in Seaview Terrace, Edinburgh after the alarm was raised at 23:59 on Thursday.
“Firefighters extinguished the flames using high powered hoses. There were no casualties. Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
