Firefighters have been tackling a fire on Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh.
There have been no reported casualties and authorities have closed the roads around the affected area.
Specialist resources and multiple appliances
Area Commander David Dourley said: “We were alerted at 6.38pm on Sunday, 19 July to reports of a fire in the open at Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh.
“Operations Control mobilised six fire appliances and specialist resources to the scene where firefighters are working to extinguish a fire affecting an area of grass.
“Our crews remain on scene this morning having worked tirelessly throughout the night fighting the fire. Operations will continue today until the fire is fully extinguished.
“There are no reported casualties. We ask the public to please avoid the area and remind them that road closures are in place.
“We also urge people to remain vigilant during this hot spell of weather, and we thank them for their understanding.”
The fire is the second fire at Arthur’s Seat, which is an extinct volcano, in the last three months
Cairngorms wildfire continues
Meanwhile, firefighters are also battling a wildfire at Cairngorms National Park.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have deployed six fire appliances to the scene, two all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), a Wildfire Support Unit and a water carrier.
It highlighted that whilst there were “encouraging signs across the affected area, with visible improvements becoming increasingly evident”, wildfires can change rapidly and therefore urged the public not to become complacent.
