Ranger Fire and Security has secured a major new investment after Inflexion, one of Europe’s leading mid-market private equity firms, agreed a majority investment in the business to accelerate its expansion across the UK and Ireland.
Investment to accelerate growth
The investment will support Ranger’s ongoing acquisition strategy, enabling the company to continue purchasing high-performing local fire and security businesses, a cornerstone of its growth model since launch.
It will also fund the further integration of back-office functions across the Group, a key factor behind Inflexion’s decision to invest.
The move is expected to strengthen Ranger’s ambition of creating a truly national fire and security services platform, while also supporting potential future expansion into continental Europe.
Strong since launch
The deal follows a period of rapid growth for Ranger, which has completed more than 25 acquisitions across Great Britain and Ireland since its formation.
The Group has grown to employ more than 500 people and has achieved revenues exceeding £75 million.
Ranger has also been recognised for its growth strategy, winning the Actum Buy and Build Value Creation Award as a portfolio company of Hyperion Equity Partners.
In addition, the business has introduced an enhanced employee benefits package across the Group, with further details expected to be announced in the near future.
Hyperion reinvests alongside Inflexion
As part of the transaction, existing investor Hyperion Equity Partners will make a substantial reinvestment in Ranger, demonstrating continued confidence in the company’s long-term strategy and growth potential.
Inflexion manages €20 billion of assets and specialises in supporting ambitious, high-growth businesses. The firm has extensive experience in acquisition-led growth, with companies across its portfolio completing more than 650 acquisitions to date.
Leadership team remains unchanged
All members of Ranger’s leadership team will remain in place following the investment, ensuring continuity as the business enters its next phase of growth.
The company said the investment reinforces its mission to become a one-stop solution for all fire and security service requirements across the UK and Ireland.
Mark Bridges, CEO, Ranger Fire and Security, said: “This is a landmark moment for Ranger. In just a short space of time we’ve built a strong footprint covering all parts of the UK and Ireland.
“We’ve brought together some of the industry’s highest-performing local businesses, combining their trusted customer reputations with the scale and reach of a national platform.
“Ranger has had strong interest from potential investors since it launched, and in Inflexion we have a blue-chip investor with a track record of backing fast-paced buy-and-build.
“This investment is a strong endorsement of our strategy and the momentum we’ve built. With their support and expertise, we can accelerate our plans, scale faster and continue building a leading one-stop shop for fire and security services.”
Partnership for growth
Michael Baster, Partner at Inflexion, said: “Ranger has built a compelling platform and we are excited to be partnering with Mark and the team as they accelerate the company’s next phase of growth.
“With a clear vision, acquisition strategy and a strong track record of integrating high-quality businesses, we see significant further opportunity ahead.”
Dylan Smith, Partner, Hyperion Equity Partners, said: “We are proud to see the hard work of the Ranger team come to fruition. Backing proven leaders in resilient markets alongside like-minded partners is core to our strategy at Hyperion.
“We have great conviction in Mark, the Ranger team and the Inflexion team, driving our significant re-investment and long-term commitment to creating the leading fire and security provider.
