Fireaway Inc. has announced that its Stat-X condensed aerosol fire-extinguishing systems have received type approval from Bureau Veritas following evaluation in accordance with MSC.1/Circ.1270.
The approvals include three certificates covering the global market, the European Union and the UK
International Marine Certification Achieved
The Bureau Veritas Type Approval Certificate (23277/D1 BV) confirms that Stat-X systems meet the requirements of SOLAS 74, as amended, the Fire Safety Systems (FSS) Code, the 1994 and 2000 High-Speed Craft (HSC) Codes, and IMO MSC.1/Circ.1270. The certificate is valid until 22 October 2030.
An EC Type Examination Certificate (81823/A0 MED) was also issued under the EU Marine Equipment Directive 2014/90/EU, supporting the wheelmark certification pathway for EU-flagged vessels. The certificate is valid until 8 April 2031.
In addition, Bureau Veritas issued a UK Type-Examination Certificate (81824/A0 UK) under the Merchant Shipping (Marine Equipment) Regulations 2025. The certification was authorised by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and remains valid until 8 April 2031.
Approval Covers 15 Generator Models

“It also reflects the structured process through which performance validation, technical assessment, and certification come together in practice.”
The approval covers 15 generator models across the E-series, which use electrical activation, and the T-series, which use thermal activation. The systems were evaluated for use in enclosed marine machinery spaces.
Applications Across Marine Environments
Type approval confirms that the Stat-X system design satisfies applicable evaluation requirements, although vessel-specific installations remain subject to review and authorisation by classification societies and flag administrations.
Stat-X condensed aerosol systems are designed for enclosed and special-hazard environments requiring compact, electrically non-conductive fire suppression.
Applications include machinery spaces, control cabinets and auxiliary equipment enclosures.
With EU and UK certifications now added to the global Bureau Veritas approval, Fireaway said Stat-X is well positioned for wider adoption across SOLAS-governed marine projects worldwide.
