A conference session at Siemen’s Transform 2026 event in Manchester explored how connected fire safety technologies are supporting the development of increasingly autonomous buildings.
The product showcase formed part of the two day biennial Transform event, where the company displayed more than 10,000 square metres of technology.
This year’s event focused on industrial artificial intelligence and how digital technologies can be applied across the industrial value chain, including building and energy infrastructure.
Connected fire safety technologies
The session took the form of a question and answer discussion between Pete Colverd, Head of Partner Management for Siemens UK and Ireland, and Malav Bhatt, Head of Fire Safety, Siemens EMEA.
Colverd outlined how buildings are becoming more connected, intelligent and autonomous before discussing how Siemens’ next generation fire detection portfolio supports this transition.
Topics included 24 hour self checks using disturbance free testing, real time monitoring through Smoke Entry Supervision, remote diagnostics, predictive maintenance and sustainability.
Siemens said these capabilities are delivered through an IoT connected platform designed to support more human centric building management.
Prison case study
Bhatt highlighted a project involving eight prisons in Ireland that uses a cloud enabled Siemens fire safety system to support rapid situation assessment and decision making through a mobile application.
He explained that the system enables users to assess incidents remotely and determine whether evacuation is required, helping to support planned phased evacuations in complex environments such as prisons.
Concluding the session, Bhatt said the continued development of connected fire safety technologies could help make buildings more human centric and autonomous while simplifying fire safety management for users.
Transform 2026 featured keynote presentations, panel discussions and interactive sessions covering topics including operational efficiency, supply chain resilience, sustainability, skills and digital readiness.
