MSA Safety donates N95 masks to assist in COVID-19 response
MSA Safety recognises the critical need for personal protective equipment (PPE) as we work together in the effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
As a leader in safety, MSA is an essential business and intends to continue operating its manufacturing facilities during times of lockdown or crisis, to the extent practicable, while protecting the health and safety of our workforce.
We do this because many of our customers require protection to continue to work in times of global crisis. This includes first responders, who are tasked with keeping us safe and, in some cases, directly responding to the COVID-19 outbreak. It also includes helping to protect those tasked with keeping our infrastructure functioning, particularly in times of a global emergency.
While disposable N95 masks and other personal protective equipment used by healthcare professionals in pandemic situations are not manufactured by MSA, we have donated our complete allotment of available N95 respirators (sourced from a third-party supplier) to the local Pittsburgh medical community.
These 65,000 respirators are directly helping medical professionals working throughout our region. We are also working with the White House to determine how MSA can respond to the Administration’s request for other types of respirators that could be used in the COVID-19 battle.
MSA does and will continue to produce advanced air-purifying respirators, such as elastomeric half-mask, full-facepiece respirators and powered air-purifying respirators (PAPRs).
These products are used in many industrial and first responder applications and therefore may see higher levels of demand in the event of a global mask shortage. During such an event, MSA is committed to increasing production of masks within our existing air-purifying respirator portfolio.
Given the fluidity of the COVID-19 outbreak, we will continue to monitor this situation closely, and adjust as we are able. For the latest information, please visit the MSA Safety website and see our dedicated COVID-19 information area at: https://www.MSAsafety.com/coronavirus.
