Luminite have announced that, following feedback from a school for the hearing impaired that wanted to use our lockdown devices, they have now introduced a pager system to the Alertex range.
Within the education sector, lockdown alerts present a unique challenge for the audibly impaired. Due to the transmission range of Alertex devices, one of the main advantages for schools is that they do not have to site an alert in every classroom. However, this means that anyone with a hearing impairment may not be alerted to a lockdown event. Connecting a pager transmitter to a master unit, normally kept in the school’s reception area, facilitates the use of vibrating pagers within classrooms or elsewhere to act as an additional alert for pupils or teaching staff with a hearing impairment. No power supply is required as the system is battery powered. Connect the transmitter to a Bridge (NXIPBRIDGE) so that it can be used to send additional real time messages to key personnel.
The Alertex range is also widely used as an alert to fire and first aid within the construction industry. When the FIRE button is pressed all Alertex devices in range are triggered. However, FIRST AID does not require a site wide alert, generally the site supervisor only receives such alerts. However, if the supervisor is moving around the site, the pager will display the first aid request and the unit where the request originated from so that the appropriate action can be taken.
