Kidde launches new Commercial EXCELLENCE Series

With a heritage and experience of more than 100 years to draw upon, evolution and continuous product development are key pillars of the Kidde Commercial ethos. This is demonstrated most recently with a suite of new upgrades and a device refresh to the new EXCELLENCE Series fire detection and alarm system. The Kidde EXCELLENCE Series brings together innovations from across the Carrier brand portfolio, to create a complete system offering. It comprises multi-wave, multi-angle smoke detectors, as well as intelligent addressable input and output units, or IO modules, and manual call points.

The new EXCELLENCE eco-system has a number of new features and benefits to improve technical performance, which cut installation, commissioning, operating and maintenance costs – and it is constantly being updated to improve the user experience.
It is “the installer’s best friend” with pluggable connectors on modules and call points, a quick removable door and quick removable chassis. The EXCELLENCE smoke detectors take heed from the lessons learned on nuisance alarms during the past half century, but also incorporate a clean- sheet approach to nuisance alarm root causes. The result is a unique set of solutions that offers significant performance and quantifiable detection improvements. For additional safety, all detectors offer optional integrated short circuit isolation. The EXCELLENCE I/O modules offer multiple mounting options, pluggable connectors and link through facility. In addition, the modules feature a local test facility per channel, and local LED status per channel.

The manual call points in the EXCELLENCE Series feature optional integrated short circuit isolation, dual LED Alarm indication offering 180° alarm visibility, resettable or frangible element support, plus a mechanical alarm flag and a matching maintenance test key. Users can save installation and commissioning time thanks to the multiple mounting options, a link through facility, plus front facing test facility that is always accessible. With the addition of Kidde Commercial’s 2X-A and 2X-AT panels to the EXCELLENCE series devices at the end of 2023, the Excellence series now brings an entirely new dimension to intelligent addressable fire detection with leading edge technology.

With the EXCELLENCE Series, migration over to the new system is easy. Legacy devices and panels can be replaced in phases or all together, depending on the existing system and end user requirements. Additional network compatibility with multiple legacy systems as well as the use of the same configuration and graphic software make upgrading even easier.
The Kidde EXCELLENCE Series is CPR, SBSC, BOSEC and NEN approved. Nigel Braganza, Product Management Leader at Kidde Commercial, adds: “We are extremely pleased with our new excellence series devices and kidde commercial panels offering which enables installers to reduce their installation, commissioning and maintenance time. Additionally provides peace of mind for end-users with our superior and reliable detection technology reducing nuisance alarms”
