The Fire Industry Association (FIA) reported about the huge achievement of CEO Ian Moore being awarded an OBE in the 2025 New Year Honours List.
FIA is delighted to announce that our Chief Executive Officer, Ian Moore, has been awarded an OBE in the 2025 New Year Honours List for his outstanding services to the Fire Industry and to Public Safety. His other significant contributions for military service and to the community were no doubt an influence in the decision by the Cabinet Office’s Main Honours Committee.
Since taking on the role of CEO, Ian has driven key improvements within the fire safety industry. Under his leadership, the FIA has grown to become Europe’s largest fire protection trade association, with over 1,200 members. All of these members have Third Party Certification, which is the minimum requirement the FIA seeks to raise the bar on professionalism. Ian is a staunch supporter and promoter on this being mandated for companies operating in a life safety industry. He has championed the development of fire safety qualifications, which have helped thousands of professionals improve their skills, ultimately making buildings and communities safer.
Ian has always gone above and beyond to tackle the industry’s biggest challenges. Following the Grenfell Tower tragedy, he led efforts to improve competency standards across the sector and launched a ground-breaking building safety information portal to support homeowners affected by cladding issues. During the pandemic, Ian successfully lobbied for fire safety professionals to be classified as key workers, ensuring that critical safety systems continued to be installed and maintained.
Ian’s dedication extends well beyond his professional role. He serves as a Magistrate, is a Parish Councillor and is heavily involved with a number of charities; one of them playing a key role in the delivery of fire safety equipment to Ukraine during its time of need.
Sir Ken Knight, former Chief Fire and Rescue Adviser for England, said, “Ian’s work has had a real and lasting impact on fire safety. His efforts have improved industry standards and helped countless people across the country and beyond.”
Everyone at the FIA is incredibly proud of Ian for this well-deserved recognition. His OBE is a testament to his hard work, leadership, and determination to make a difference.
Congratulations, Ian, on this remarkable achievement!
