Coltraco Portamarine

The Portamarine is the world’s leading marine liquid level indicator and has been specially designed to meet the needs commonly experienced when testing on Marine Fire suppression systems. It can be used on FM-200™, NOVEC™ 1230 and a variety of other clean agents but the core design is for working on 45KG / 100Lbs CO2 cylinders in a variety of conditions.
The unit uses the proven and very versilite technology from our Portalevel Standard units which has successfully been the core of our raange for nearly 5 years. The range has undergone numerous upgrades to enhance the performance for our customers over this type and a typical cylinder test time is now under 50 seconds.
A few core features of this unit includes:

  • The equipment is Classification Society Approved, currently by RINA, and we have units operaing on over 9,000 vessels worldwide.
  • The equipment is proven accurate to +/-1.5mm and has been designed to have handsfree use, allowing the operator to have two free hands to work with during testing.
  • Auto-Calibration facility sets the unit to each cylinder being tested, helping remove user error with manual tuning and increase the speed of testing
  • 2 different power settings, allowing for the unit output to be increased when working on corroded, rusted or poor quality old cylinders.
  • Capability for multi-banked cylinder testing with two rod variants avaliable:
    • Standard Rod – 24mm Standard rod for majority of applications
    • Mini-Rod – 14mm width for tightly packaged cylinder systems
  • Bright LED panel ideal for low light conditions in compartment spaces

The primary application for the Portamarine™ is for testing the content of fixed fire suppression cylinders on-board ships and when installed in multi-bank rows 2-3-4 cylinders deep with 20-25mm spacing between each cylinder. This is achieved using ultrasonic technology to send signals into the cylinders. Testing can be achieved without removing the cylinders from their manifold , saving considerable time in testing and reducing risk to the operators.
The equipment can work on a wide variety of cylinder types and typical agents include CO2, FM200™, NOVEC 1230™, old Halon Agents, FE-13™, FE-25™, NAF S III™ and all core Clean Agent Systems but it is designed for marine CO2 systems.
This equipment will not operate on Inert Gas systems.
Portamarine™ is designed for Chief Engineers and Marine Servicing Companies as the ideal tool for use in marine CO2 contents monitoring & servicing requirements. The equipment is very fast to operate, easy to train operators on its use and capable of working on a wide variety of agent & cylinder types without having to change any settings at all.
For companies which are still weighing cylinders during servicing, testing is completed with the cylinders remaining in the manifold. This will reduce the time and man-hours required to carry out testing by up to 70% and is much safer with no high pressure cylinders having to be disconnected, moved and reconnected.
