After an enemy attack on an industrial facility in the Poltava region, Ukraine, a large fire was successfully extinguished on the night of February 21, 2025. In addition to 87 emergency responders from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) and 34 firefighting vehicles, the turbine firefighting robot TAF AirCore 35-C from the South Tyrolean company EmiControls was deployed. Its innovative technology enabled targeted firefighting from a safe distance.
The remotely controlled robot fought the flames using a water mist system, while controlled from distances of up to 300 meters, thus protecting the emergency personnel from direct danger. Equipped with thermal imaging and high-resolution cameras, it can also suppress gas and smoke, keep escape routes clear, or remove heavy obstacles with its fork to clear the way for rescue teams.
“The TAF robot was specifically designed to operate in extremely dangerous environments, such as those found in war zones,” said a spokesperson from EmiControls. “With its ability to target and effectively extinguish fires, the TAF played a crucial role in combating the blaze and preventing its further spread. We are proud that our technology could make such a significant difference in such a challenging environment.” This operation clearly demonstrates how modern technologies can increase the safety of emergency responders and contribute significantly to hazard prevention in crisis zones.
