ATOR Labs is a mission-driven company founded in 2014 to quantify breathing and metabolic performance for both manufacturers and end users. We are proud to introduce the OMNICheck, the world’s first ISO 16900 breathing machine that is also NFPA 1852 compliant. The OMNICheck is designed specifically to perform the annual NFPA/EN SCBA flow test for firefighters, fire departments, and training facilities around the world.

ATOR Labs is staffed with the world’s foremost respiratory protective device testing experts. We currently sit on technical boards for the International Standards Organization (ISO), the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), and the International Society for Respiratory Protection (ISRP). Should you require testing capabilities or design expertise, ATOR provides consultation services backed by decades of operator experience. We have researched and consulted for private and public industry leaders like the US Department of Defense and leading academic institutions such as MIT, Stanford, and Harvard University.

In 2018, after years of iterative design and consultation with industry stakeholders, ATOR Labs fielded its flagship product—the Automated Breathing and Metabolic Simulator (ABMS). The most advanced simulator of human respiration made to date, the ABMS is currently helping both certifying agencies and companies in multiple industries track their products’ performance against global requirements, including those from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, OSHA, the European Union, the Federal Aviation Agency, and the International Standards Organization.

Following the success of the ABMS, ATOR Labs introduced the ISO 16900 inspired OMNICheck in 2023. The OMNICheck is a “future-proof” Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and respiratory protective device validator. It meets NFPA, EN, and ISO requirements for breathing machines, and with its intuitive software interface, allows the user to rapidly re-certify their respiratory protective devices. Additionally, the OMNICheck satisfies all record-keeping requirements listed in OSHA 1910.134.

In the United States, the NFPA compliant OMNICheck currently provides NFPA 1852 flow testing. For industrial use, the OMNICheck compares RPD to existing performance standards, allowing for a more robust respiratory protection program. In Europe, Africa, and Australia, our software allows the end user to input the testing requirements for any manufacturer’s SCBA models. All data and test reports are easily retrieved from our native database using either locally assigned numbers or equipment serial numbers.

With the ongoing publication of ISO standards for methods of RPD tests, test equipment (ISO 16900), and performance requirements (ISO 17420), the respiratory protective equipment (RPE) industry is approaching a new age of higher expectations—regulatory standards fundamentally rooted in human physiology.

Whether you’re evaluating prototype designs of a powered air-purifying respirator or conducting SCBA re-certifications, we are the lab that Respiratory Protective Equipment consumers and manufacturers come to for evaluation tools and performance data.
