On Friday 21 November, the winners of the third annual Conrad Dietrich Magirus awards for the world’s best fire-fighting team were announced at the Maritim Hotel in Ulm, Germany. Over 500 attendees heard a speech from former FDNY fire chief Tony Tricarico and also Magirus CEO Antonio Benedetti before the award winners were read out. The winners of the Domestic Fire-Fighting Team of the Year were the Jugendfeurwehr Deisel, whose campaign to end binge drinking demonstrated the work done by fire-fighters of all ages in the community.
The International award was won by the Fire Department of Rio de Janeiro, who helped save lives after a truck collided with an overhead walkway in the city.
Both teams will win a trip to visit the New York Fire Department, and receive a full tour of their facilities – as well as meeting Capt. Tricarico.
Our congratulations go out to all the winners and nominees.
